The Purpose:

The purpose of the TRANSFER YOUR BOOKS: School Exchange Campaign is to result in the establishment of a school and public library in Luena, Angola by successfully transferring books and educational resources no later than the summer of 2009.

The Campaign:

Is a charitable, educational and awareness campaign led by students from the island of Puerto Rico for the benefit of students and teachers in the African nation of Angola. The Campaign is produced by the members and officials of Student Globe and implemented in partnership with Better World Books, Books for Africa and the participating schools and students of Puerto Rico.

The Goals:

The goals of the Campaign are to: [A] Collect useful books (1) that could be specifically included in the container of 20,000 books that will be shipped to Luena, Angola upon the success of the Campaign (2) that will be shipped to the United States for resale by social venture business enterprise Better World Books and (3) that will be donated to three educational organizations in Puerto Rico also in urgent need of books and [B] increase the social awareness of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals in Puerto Rico.

Student Globe is a global student travel and development society incorporated for the attainment and pursuit of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the eradication of extreme poverty through the increase in transfers of mutual understandings and resources across borders. Student Globe is organized exclusively for educational, literary, development and charitable purposes. The nature and function of this nonprofit social group is to promote, facilitate, advocate and significantly increase the participation of students in transnational experiential educational travel and the direct involvement of capable, entrepreneurial student leaders in sustainable development initiatives that prove to directly contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
